"Half a Dozen Heartaches" is a tantalizing offering. For bluegrass that adheres to established values but still seethes with creativeness, the music of the Stanleytones certainly has sterling credentials."
Buck Buckner, KGNU Radio, Boulder, Colo.:
...this band follows the ways of the masters. The group's strong traditional songs are sometimes flavored by a dash of western swing or a pinch of jazz, giving each song the authentic sound of bluegrass music as practiced here in Colorado.
Westword:
...a fine debut album. "Half a Dozen Heartaches" is a highly satisfying collection of traditional, high-lonesome bluegrass.
Colorado Bluegrass Music Society:
The harmonies have excellent blend and pitch, straight from the dark side of the hollow. The Tones have hit the taproot of this style of roots music.

THE STANLEYTONES – WOMEN MAKE ME ACT LIKE A FOOL – No Label, No Number.
The Stanelytones currently consist of Jim Bertolin (banjo, guitar, resonator guitar, and vocals), James T. Davis (guitar and vocals), Joel Denman (fiddle and vocals), Darrell Cox (mandolin and vocals), and Luke Eisenhauer (bass and vocals). This 13-song disc is a mix of original material along with old stalwarts such as "Angeline the Baker", "Will You Miss Me", and "In-Despair". Jim Bertolin is the band's prime songwriter and contributes several numbers including the title song, "The Arkansas Hogscraper" and a new version of "I Don't Drink Whiskey". "Women Make Me Act Like a Fool" is regional bluegrass at its finest, with the potential to reach out to other audiences.
